That’s totally fine. I had a very formal, traditional gown – all embellished, beaded, etc – like you, not what I planned – but what I fell in LOVE with and looked and felt amazing in, and my attendants wore beautiful summery printed tealength dresses – and it was a church wedding.
Stick with the gorgeous dress you love! Shine and sparkle!

of course its okay.. its YOUR day! you can do what you want.. I wore a formal dress and my hubby wore a tux and everyone else dressed semi-casual... i.e khakis etc..soundslike your wedding will be beautiful! Best luck to you and your soon to be hubby!

I am getting married on a beach, and I am a down to earth gal. The wedding will be pretty laid back, and not Cinderella-ish at all, but my gown is pretty fancy, and sooo lovely. I got the dress I wanted, because in the end, I will only marry once, and this is the dress that made me go nuts, and so what? Nobody's going to be hurt by me wearing this dress...get the dress you love.

I would keep the formal dress, but change into something more causal latter. Formal attire for the ceremony shows respect for the groom, the guests, and the person performing the ceremony for you.

You can make all this work. No need to chanfge dresses now. You can glam them up just a bit with hair and jewelry. You are the one who will shine that day. Thats no problem. Best wishes

its fine for you to have a formal dress and then not. its YOUR special day, you deserve to stand out (in a good way) and like the girl above me said: you can always change out of it for the party

Maybe you could buy some fancier accents to go with them. Like sparkly pins for the waistline, jewelry or hairpieces that would dress them up a little to make them more formal.
